Leadership programs part of Krannert’s global business education

Graduate Programs Leadership Programs Undergraduate Programs

At the Purdue Krannert School of Management we educate tomorrow’s global business leaders. It is our focus, our passion and our purpose.

In our increasingly complex global business environment, students need more than a top-ranked academic program and stellar classroom performance to achieve career success. Students must demonstrate leadership aptitude, networking proficiency and cultural understanding to reach long-term professional goals. We recognize the need to develop these competencies in Krannert students and we’ve designed a program that allows us to track skill expansion through both classroom projects and extra-curricular activities.

The Launching Business Leaders Program guides our undergraduate students in achieving these competencies, while the Launching Global Leaders Program is designed specifically for our graduate students. Key components are creating a personal brand, developing relationship skills and honing strategic thinking and decision making abilities. As Darian L. Griffin, Director-Sales Finance for SC Johnson, shares in the video above, recruiters are taking note of the skills our students develop through these leadership programs.

The programs enable our students to verify competencies and skills that aren’t necessarily obvious on a college transcript or resume. For example, students can confirm they have developed cultural intelligence or team building expertise through course work, study abroad experience, student organization involvement and volunteer activities.

Similar to the Six Sigma approach, students achieve different color belts, representing levels of proficiency, for each skill. This gives students a goal to strive for and provides recruiters an easy way of assessing level of expertise in any given area. The program is designed using gamification concepts, so students have incentives and rewards as they progress through the levels.

Throughout the entire program, the four main components of a job search are stressed: resume writing, interviewing, networking and career goals. As Krannert students move through the program, they are prepared for internship and co-op employment opportunities, and as a result will be even better equipped to reach their ultimate career goals after graduation.

The Launching Business Leaders and Launching Global Leaders programs are just one piece, but a very important one, of the exceptional educational opportunities offered to students at the Krannert School of Management.

Warm Regards,
